Hi, It's So Nice to Meet You!

There's been a lot of new readers here at The Good Grace over the last couple of weeks, so I wanted to go ahead and introduce myself.

My name is Mary Beth Ashley, and I'm a youth pastor currently serving a United Methodist Church in Eastern Alabama, but originally from Jackson, Mississippi.

Prior to moving to Alabama, my sophomore year of college, I co-founded a nonprofit ministry called The Or Project, which serves sex trafficking victims in the metro-Jackson area. (You can learn more about Or here.)

I've been working with youth groups for the majority of my life, and also spent a year as an English/Bible teacher -- so I guess you could say that working with teens and their parents is second-nature for me, by now!

Fast, Fun Facts About Me:

  • I'm married to a med student named Devon, and he is the love of my life and also the biggest doofus I've ever known. And also, he drives me insane. But I love him. He's great. But he makes me bonkers. But in a good way.

  • I'm a twin! Neither one of us is older - we were the first twins born in the state of AL at exactly the same second (yes, it was a C-Section). *Bonus fact: My sister is my exact opposite in that she is incredibly fashionable, bold, and insanely witty. I want to be her when I grow up, and also Judy Hopps from Zootopia.)

  • I am obsessed with all holidays, Disney, books, coffee, and zoos.

  • Speaking of zoos, giraffes are my favorite animal, and I collect giraffe-related baubles.

  • I've had some poems published here and there, but I'm most proud of this one: "Polite Dinner Conversation."

  • I'm a Gryffindor, Enneagram 7, and ESFP if any of that means anything to you.

I appreciate you so much for stopping by and hanging out. Introduce yourself below in the comments!
