We've already discussed my completely-not-insane obsession with the Holidays, so I thought I may as well share my Thanksgiving plans with you all, as well as share a Thanksgiving playlist I made. I hope it inspires you to live your best Thanksgiving-life, and gets you in the spirit of the season. Hooray for festivities and pants with elastic waistbands!
This is my first year to host, so I am both simultaneously enraptured and terrified. (Now would be a good time to tell the story of how I once set a toaster oven on fire, simply by putting bread in it! That's it. That's the story. Culinary prowess I do not possess.)
With that being said, we have a fairly ambitious menu including but not limited to:
A spatchcocked turkey (I'm not even going to try to explain this to you, just - look it up. Obviously, this was a Devon-call!)
Homemade mac n' cheese
Spinach puffs (Emperor's New Groove, anyone?)
Pan fried bacon and brussel sprouts
Apple butter pie
(I'm reflecting on when I called this seemingly simple menu "ambitious" and would like to refer you to the prior paragraph where I set fire to a toaster oven... with bread.) What are you making for Thanksgiving? Tell me below! I love a good, new recipe.
As far as Thanksgiving traditions go, "Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" won't be airing on TV (Boo! Hiss! AppleTV! Boo!) and neither will the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (I actually cried over this one). So, I'll be distracting myself from this acute loss by breaking out the Christmas décor and looping Johnny Mathis's Christmas album until Devon has a mental breakdown. (I'm not saying he's the actual Grinch... just that I've never seen the Grinch and Devon in the same room, at the same time.)
Anyway, here's a Pandora playlist I made in honor of Thanksgiving. I'm going to list the tracks and artists below, but the link to it is right here.
(Also? This is for all of you who have complained there's no such thing as "Thanksgiving music." Brace yourselves.)
