Dear Abba,
We come to you knowing and acknowledging that You are a good, good Father. We know that You cannot be contained, You cannot be controlled, You cannot be forced into our boxes. You are a big, wild, boundless God and we exalt Your holy name. You love us despite our wandering hearts, You delight in our company, and You call us friend. What other God is like this?
Abba, we come humbly asking that You give us peace as we enter into this new year.
I pray that You would pour peace on us like rain, that we would receive the truth that You are in control, and that we don't have to have all the answers or know what's coming next. I pray that You would give us a sense of resilience, that You would give us a sense of bravery and courage, and that You would help us to remember to be gentle and kind like You are.
I pray that You would bring healing, comfort, and truth into our hearts. I pray You open our eyes to Your goodness, but also that You would soften us. Break our hearts for what breaks Yours, open our eyes, give us a spirit of gentleness.
I pray that we would not forget the blessings You have given us -- that we would not get caught up in the consumeristic, status-symbol driven cultures that we live in.
I pray that we would be united, connected, loving, and gracious.
Father, stay close to us. Don't forget Your people. Forgive us where we hurt You. Continue to extend new mercy every day.
You are good, indeed. So, so good.
We love You too.
Amen
